*American Guinea Pig 1: Bouquet of Guts and Gore (2014)
Year: 2014 Directed by: Stephen Biro Starring: Cayt Feinics (Victim 1), Ashley Lynn Caputo (Victim 2), Eight The Chosen One (Beast Mask man), Scott Gabbey (Director) Country: United States Language: English Runtime: 01:12:53 Genres: Violence against Women, Cannibalism, Gore-Gruesome-Splatter, Snuff, Torture
A couple of girls are abducted while walking down a street and become the stars of a snuff movie commissioned by unknown people.
Three cameramen record an Actor go to work on the women after injecting them with Vecuronium, a neuromuscular blocker.
The girls are also forced to drop acid. The idea is to disable all muscular movements while allowing the girls to feel the pain.
The Director barks orders to the Actor as the people paying for the snuff movie have some specific requirements like working on the left side of a girl first.
The rest of the movie is a gore fest with saws, razors and clippers used in myriad ways for about an hour.
The film closes with a promise of deeper depravity as the crew set out on their next project.
Bouquet of Guts and Gore is an obvious homage to Guinea Pig 2: Flower of Flesh & Blood –
the still women, the amputations and has enough material in it to at least make you wince.

*American Guinea Pig 2: Bloodshock (2015)
Year: 2015 Directed by: Marcus Koch Starring: Dan Ellis (Male Patient), Lillian McKinney (Female Patient), Andy Winton (Doctor) Country: United States Language: English Runtime: 01:30:51 Genres: Sexual-Violence against Men, Sexual-Violence against Women, Gore-Gruesome, Torture, Captivity, Revenge, Medical
Bloodshock gets straight away into things as a doctor slices off the tongue of a man.
The man, referred to as the Male, then finds himself in a padded room to prevent him from battering himself to death –
an option he would have considered in due course, as the torture inflicted on him gets progressively extreme.
There is little dialogue in Bloodshock and the actions speak louder.
The torture is amped up each session as the victim’s tolerance to pain increases to the point where surgeries
that would normally require anesthesia are carried out without the Male passing out.
The purpose behind the torture is vague, though there is a hint at the end.
Meanwhile, the Doctor extracts chemicals released into the Male’s blood during sessions of extreme pain and gets high on them.
The Male finds some hope to exist when he finds notes dropped into his cell through an opening in the padded walls, ostensibly from a fellow prisoner.
This relationship climaxes in one of the more satisfying endings to movies of this nature, as Bloodshock briefly shifts into colour from its black and white hues.
It also has a fairly clever way to force you to sit through the end credits.

*American Guinea Pig 3: Song of Solomon (2017)
Year: 2017 Directed by: Stephen Biro Starring: Jessica Cameron (Possessed Girl) Country: United States Language: English Runtime: 01:25:38 Genres: Gore-Gruesome-Splatter, Religion, Self-Harm, Satanism, Horror
A girl has driven her father to despair, claiming he molested her among other things. In his desperation, he slits his own throat and pulls out his bloodied tongue while gasping to death. A family counselor is brought in, but is intimidated by her and refers her to a medical professional who also cedes defeat. Eventually the Church arrives, after it becomes obvious that the girl is possessed, most likely by a Legion. Catholic priests wade in and out of the gore that’s being summoned up by demons, not of an ordinary nature.
If you’ve seen and loved the Exorcist, this will seem like a poor version, but if you stick with it there are gory moments that make it perhaps worth your wait –
like the possessed girl going into orgasmic rapture while bathed in blood shooting from the veins of a priest.

*American Guinea Pig 4: Sacrifice (2017)
Year: 2017 Directed by: Poison Rouge Starring: Roberto Scorza (Daniel), Flora Giannattasio (Woman/Ishtar) Country: Italy Language: English Runtime: 01:03:22 Genres: Gore-Gruesome, Self-Harm, Transsexual
American Guinea Pig 4: Sacrifice was an independently-made movie in Italy that was later included in the American Guinea Pig series.
A young man Daniel appears to be suffering from some kind of childhood trauma or he’s completely cuckoo –
either way, he believes there are portals to the darkness around him that can be accessed through extreme self-mutilation.
He locks himself up in his home and proceeds to perform a bunch of acts to summon Goddess Ishtar to help him cross over to the other side.
The film moves along tediously initially – it takes Daniel about 15 minutes to light some goddamn candles and start the action,
but once it gets going, there are some brutal scenes involving toe nails and his cock.
By the end of the film it appears that all of it was an extreme expression of Daniel’s need to transition into a woman
which he legitimized to his repressed self through the use of mythical literature and figures.

*Guinea Pig 1: Devil's Experiment (1985)
AKA: Gini Piggu: Akuma no Jikken, Unabridged Agony Year: 1985 Directed by: Satoru Ogura Starring: Unknown Country: Japan, Asian Cinema Language: Japanese (English Subtitles) Runtime: 00:42:42 Genres: BDSM, Gore-Gruesome-Splatter, Violence against Women, Snuff, Torture, Insects
The first in the series that was so bad, the Producer Satoru Ogura (also Director of this one) had to show ‘making of’ footage to prove it wasn’t a real snuff movie.
Guinea Pig 1 involves a young woman being tormented and tortured over several days by three men in a dark room, as well as outdoors. The torture here doesn’t just rely on gore but is well thought out, like the group of men were true sadists who wanted their victim to experience pure suffering and misery.
The victim is submissive and appears aware, exhausted and reconciled to her fate because she doesn’t shriek or scream for the most part, but sits through a lot of it merely whimpering.
The 40+ minute long ordeal is divided into chapters which are helpfully titled Hit, Kick, Needle, Claw, Burn, Worm etc so you can be prepared for what’s coming up next for her.
Not to exaggerate, but even seasoned watchers of extreme cinema will feel the sadism off their screens with this one.

*Guinea Pig 2: Flower of Flesh and Blood (1989)
AKA: Giniî piggu 2: Chiniku no hana Year: 1985 Directed by: Hideshi Hino Starring: Hideshi Hino, Hiroshi Tamura, Kirara Yugao Country: Japan, Asian Cinema Language: Japanese (English Subtitles) Runtime: 00:41:58 Genres: Gore-Gruesome-Splatter, Sexual-Violence against Women, Snuff, Insects, Violence Against-Relationships with Animals, Serial Killers
The second in the Guinea Pig series gets more into gore territory.
Hideshi Hino (real-life manga artist) receives a snuff tape depicting the brutal murder of a woman along with a long letter from a self-proclaimed fan of his work. Hideshi proceeds to add some material to the footage which becomes Flower of Flesh & Blood.
The received tape shows a man (actually played Hideshi Hino) injecting a kidnapped woman with a combination of drugs that causes her to lose the sensation of pain. He then sordidly disembodies her systematically before gouging out her eyeballs. That’s it. Over 40 sordid minutes. The effects are pretty great for a 1985 movie especially when you consider how many gore movies nowadays are made with inferior realism.
Flower of Flesh & Blood gained notoriety in 1991 when Charlie Sheen watched it and sent it to the FBI believing it to be a real snuff film. How he managed to feel that way, only he knows, but it eventually led to the series being shut down (Six films had been produced by then). The producer of the films was anyway already under investigation by the Japanese police and had to release a ‘making of’ to prove the films were works of fiction.
Flower of Flesh & Blood achieved further notoriety and criticism when it was claimed that Japanese serial killer Tsutomu Miyazaki who cut off the hands and feet of his child-victims was inspired by this movie. This claim was later dismissed, though another Guinea Pig movie was found among the video collection at his home

*Guinea Pig 3: The Man Who Doesn't Die (1986)
AKA: Gini Piggu 3: Senritsu! Shinanai otoko; Guinea Pig 3: Shudder! The Man Who Doesn’t Die Year: 1986 Directed by: Masayuki Kusumi Starring: Masahiro Sato (Hideshi), Shinsuke Araki (Nakamura), Ivu (Girl) Country: Japan, Asian Cinema Language: Japanese (English Subtitles) Runtime: 00:40:37 Genres: Gore-Gruesome-Splatter, Self-Harm, Violence against Men, Body Modification
The third in the Guinea Pig Series kicks off with an intro by a dubious looking Western academic informing us about the realism of the film that follows.
Hideshi is a depressed employee at some sort of a Japanese software company. The work there is insipid and Hideshi has gotten so bad at it, being abused by his boss has become a daily routine. He is invisible to his colleagues too, who often dump their work on him.
One day he decides to not turn up to work. Four days pass and when no one from the office calls or inquires after him, he snaps and turns his loneliness inwards. He has previously experimented with cutting but had fainted at the sight of blood. This time he goes further and discovers a startling fact about himself which takes him to an extreme place.
The ending of the movie is a happy one for Hideshi because despite his tragicomic situation, he has finally found friends who are entertained by his presence.

*Guinea Pig 4: Devil Woman Doctor (1986)
AKA: Gini Piggu 4: Pita No Akuma No Joi-san, Guinea Pig: Peter’s Devil Woman Doctor Year: 1986 Directed by: Hajime Tabe Starring: Peter/Shinnosuke Ikehata (Devil Woman Doctor) Country: Japan, Asian Cinema Language: Japanese (English Subtitles) Runtime: 00:48:24 Genres: Gore-Gruesome-Splatter, Self-Harm, Violence against Men, Scars-Body Modification, Cannibalism, Dolls, CrossDressing-Transsexual, Scat
9 short tales of bizarre afflictions, fetishes and situations are strung together around the theme of a quack doctor known as the Devil Woman Doctor. The Doctor, played by Shinnosuke Ikehata in drag, introduces each of the scenarios featuring her patients.
Guinea Pig 3 introduced humor to the series, but Guinea Pig 4 is pure comedic genius that infuses hilarity into the most effed up situations. Personal favorites here include the anchor reporting on the human flesh tasting festival while trying to be professional, and the pathetically decomposing man who’s alive yet slowly dying.

*Guinea Pig 5: Android of Notre Dame (1989)
AKA: Guinea Pig: Notoru Damu No Andoroido Year: 1988 Directed by: Kazuhito Kuramoto Starring: Toshihiko Hino (Dwarf), Mio Takagi (Sister), Tomorrow Taguchi (Kato) Country: Japan, Asian Cinema Language: Japanese (English Subtitles) Runtime: 00:51:54 Genres: Gore-Gruesome-Splatter, Violence against Men, Body Modification, Captivity, Revenge, Sci-Fi, Siblings-Family, Torture
A dwarf genius scientist dotes on his terminally sick sister and works tirelessly in his basement on ways to save her. He only steps out to make sure she takes her medication on time. The rest of the day and night, he remains holed up, conducting genetic experiments on insects and small animals while coming up with the perfect code that will work for his sister.
Out of the blue, he receives an anonymous call offering a recently dead human guinea pig to aid his research in exchange for a large sum of money. The voice at the other end identifies itself as Kato who is some sort of a hacker who believes he’s found a never-ending cash resource in the scientist. A few days later, Kato comes up with a sinister plan to expand the experiments and pays a visit…
From Part 3 onward, comedy has been an integral element in the Guinea Pig series. While this isn’t as funny as Part 4: Devil Woman Doctor, it sure has its share of dark humor.

*Guinea Pig 6: Mermaid in the Manhole (1988)
AKA: Gini Piggu: Manhoru No Naka No Ningyo Year: 1988 Directed by: Hideshi Hino Starring: Shigeru Saiki (Painter), Mari Somei (Mermaid) Country: Japan, Asian Cinema Language: Japanese (English Subtitles) Runtime: 00:57:16 Genres: Gore-Gruesome-Splatter, Violence Against-Relationships with Animals, Insects, Scars-Body Modification, Violence against Women
There’s no humour in this final Guinea Pig flick but a lot more gore and splatter compared to the last few.
A painter is holed up in his room painting his memories and dwelling on boyhood nostalgia. He rarely steps out, but when he does, it’s usually to explore a sewer accessible through a manhole and which used to be a river back when he was a boy. A nosy couple who live in the floor below him are curious about him, and in particular, his wife who is believed to have left recently.
On one occasion while rummaging around in the tunnel, he comes across a mermaid whom he remembers having met as a boy in the river that ran through there. She too remembers him and he is filled with an overwhelming feeling of love and takes her home, housing her in a newly ordered tub.
For some reason, his destiny is to paint her and she constantly reminds him of this, even when he tries to nurse her after she develops a weird disease.
